The GTW Model industrial type, heavy-duty worm gear trolley operator is designed to be used for rapid, high frequency operation or on large standard-lift overhead doors, where no sideroom is available. It is ideally suited for locations where the atmosphere contains dust, oil, water or liquid vapours.
Three Button Control:
Waterproof momentary contact type for open, close, stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved up or down from that position. Close button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit 24V. A.C. for user’s protection, Class II.
Adjustable Torque Limiter:
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction (optional at extra cost).
Limit Switches:
Rotary type with oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches for automatic stopping of door in up and down positions (easily adjustable without tools).
Reversing Contactor:
Heavy duty type.
Reduction:
Worm gear reducer, single stage, running in an oil bath, 40:1 ratio, C flange design, alloy cast iron housing; door speed 8″ (20cm) per second approx.
Dual Trolley:
Cast aluminium alloy, chain driven carriage, slides in dual heavy steel angle tracks, with continuous No. 40 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and quiet operation. In addition, a roller spreader is provided to support trolley and prevent chain from rubbing.
Quick Release Door Arm:
Quickly disengages operator from door at floor level (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.
Motor:
3/4 H.P. (560W), 1 H.P. (746W), 1-1/2 H.P. (1119W) or 2 H.P. (1493W), 120V. or 240V. single phase, 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V. or 550V. three phase. 2 H.P. (1493W) not recommended for single phase motors.
Manual Overload Relay:
For over-current and under voltage protection (manual reset).
Solenoid Brake:
Will stop the door and prevent it from coasting.
Headroom Required:
2-1/2″ (6.25cm) minimum from door’s highest arc of travel.
Backroom:
5’0″ (152cm) plus door height.
Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammer-tone enamel.
Three-button command: Momentary contact push-button for opening, closing, and stopping. Completely closed, weather-resistant. Maximum 250V AC. Screw terminals.
Motor command: Reversing contractor for heavy use, two sets of three-pole contractors on a common frame, mechanically linked to prevent simultaneous closing. Hinge type armature carried on three points, monopolar or bipolar auxiliary contacts (depending on the case) on each armature. Coils: 24V AC. Non-inductive contact load: 15 amperes @ 120V AC, 10 amperes @ 240V AC, 5 amperes @ 600V AC; inductive: 2 HP (1493W) max. Quick connect terminals of .25″ (.63cm). Mechanical life: over 10 million cycles.
Electric control cabinet: Pre-wired at the factory and made of sheet metal rigid enough to meet the criteria of EEMAC and ACNOR classes 12 and 4. Dimensions: 8″ x 16″ x 5″ (20.3cm x 41cm x 13cm). Removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Attached to the chassis using 4 galvanized steel bolts.
Limit switches: Rotary type, “oilite” frictionless bronze cams, grooved and guided in a galvanized steel plate. They are fixed on a threaded steel shaft of 5/8″ x 10-3/4″ (1.59cm x 26.88cm) rotating on high-speed ball bearings with grease fittings. At preset positions, the cams activate the micro switches that cut off the power supply to the motor control in the opening and closing direction. Maximum force exerted on the switch: 4 ounces (113.4g). Contact spacing: .020″ (0.5mm). Advance: .25″ (6.35mm). Quick connect terminals of .25″ (6.35mm).
Reduction: Single-stage worm gear reducer immersed in oil, 40:1 ratio, C flanges, cast iron casing. Hardened and bored steel worm and bronze alloy gear for extended life. High-speed tapered bearings with spring seals and double lip to retain the lubricant inside and dirt outside. Reinforced shafts in hardened and bored steel. Input: maximum 1750 rpm 2 HP (1493W). Output torque: 1380 in-lb (1197cm.kg). Radial load: 1100 pounds (500kg). Output shaft: 1″ (2.54cm) diameter. Door speed: about 8″ (20cm) per second.
Chassis: Built on a robust cold rolled steel frame made of solid 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x 3.1mm) steel angles reinforced with steel sheets and bolted together.
Trolley: Built of cold rolled steel angles of 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x 3.1mm) assembled using 3/8 (9.5mm) drawn steel bars. Cast aluminum trolley driven by continuous No. 40 chain sliding between two double rails with roller chain for frictionless operation. A roller spreader supports the trolley in the center and prevents chain friction.
Quick-release safety trigger arm: Drawn steel bar of 1″ x 3/8″ (2.5cm x 9.3mm) bent at a right angle, adjustable according to the available vertical clearance, with spring hook, attached to the door’s aluminum frame. This arm quickly triggers the trolley (without tool) to allow manual door operation in case of power failure.
Torque limiter (optional, extra cost): This torque limiter consists of a steel hub and two 4″ (10.16cm) diameter clutch plates, a 50B23 gear, two 4″ (10.16cm) diameter friction discs of fireproof fibrous material, and spring washers with adjustable pressure cup. Its retention force is from 50 to 1500 pounds (23 to 680kg) and can be adjusted on site according to the weight of the door. The torque limiter protects the door if it is blocked. The limit positions are not deregulated by the action of the torque limiter.
Manual overload relay: Protects against current overloads and voltage drops. Manually resets.
25 VA step-down transformer: Primary 120V, 240V AC to secondary 24V AC, class II. Primary 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V, 600V AC to secondary 24V AC, class II. Motor: Approved for heavy use (capacitor start on single-phase models) 3/4 HP (560W), 1 HP (746W), 1-1/2 HP (1119W) or 2 HP (1493W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 550V three phase, 1725 rpm. Self-lubricating ball bearings. Rigid frame type 56. Shaft: 5/8″ (1.59cm) or 7/8″ (2.22cm) in diameter. (Single-phase power supply not recommended for 2 HP motors).
The device is pre-wired, color-coded, and labeled at the factory. Each order is delivered with its wiring diagram. The command is tested in the factory before shipment.
