Model ETHW waterproof, dust-tight, trolley-type electric door operator has been developed primarily for car-wash applications or any other location where the atmosphere contains dust, oil, liquid vapours or water. Suitable for standard lift sectional overhead doors.
Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close, stop. May be stopped in any position and door moved up or down from that position. Close button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit 24V AC Class II for user’s protection.
Adjustable Friction Clutch:
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.
Limit Switches:
Rotary type with “oilite” bronze cams and precision micro switches for automatic stopping in open and closed positions. Easily adjustable without tools.
Reversing Contactor:
Heavy duty type.
Reduction System:
The power unit of this operator utilizes a large V-belt (5L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction; roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Mounted on 1″ (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft, rotating on high speed self-lubricating, self-aligning pillow-block bearings for efficient, long lasting, hard-working, high-traffic operation. Door operating speed approx. 1.0 ft (.3m) per second.
Dual Trolley:
Cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriage, slides in a dual heavy steel angle tracks, with continuous No. 41 push and pull roller chain for smooth and quiet operation. In addition, a roller spreader is provided to support trolley and prevent chain from rubbing.
Quick Release Door Arm:
Quickly disengages operator from door (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.
Motor:
1/3 H.P. (249W), 1/2 H.P. (373W), 3/4 H.P. (560W) or 1 H.P. (746W), 115V. or 230V., 1 phase, 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V. or 550V., 3 phase. 1 H.P. (746W) not recommended for single phase motors.
Manual Overload Relay:
For over-current and under voltage protection. Manual reset.
Headroom Required:
2-1/2″ (6.35cm) minimum from door’s highest arc of travel.
Backroom:
4’7″ (140cm) plus door height.
Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammer-tone enamel.
Three-button Control:
With momentary contact, for opening, closing, and stopping. Fully enclosed, weather resistant. Maximum 250V AC. Screw terminals.
Motor Control:
Heavy-duty reversing contactor, two sets of three-pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically linked to prevent simultaneous closure. Hinged type armature supported at three points, single-pole or double-pole auxiliary contacts (as the case may be) on each armature. Coils: 24V AC. Non-inductive contact load: 15 amps @ 120V AC, 10 amps @ 240V AC, 5 amps @ 600V AC; inductive: 2 HP (1493W) max. Quick connect terminals of .25″ (6.35cm). Mechanical life: more than 10 million cycles.
Adjustable Friction Clutch:
4″ (10.16cm) diameter aluminum disk, attached to the rotary shaft with one end attached to a 4″ x 1/8″ (10.16cm x 0.32cm) fibrous non-flammable clutch material disk compressed by a powerful compression spring and a notched nut against an 8″ (20cm) V-belt pulley. Secured in place by a pin. The friction clutch system can be adjusted as needed based on the size and weight of the door. The clutch protects the door and the command in the presence of an obstacle.
Electrical Control Cabinet:
Pre-wired at the factory and made of punched sheet metal rigid enough to meet the class 12 criteria of the EEMAC and the ACNOR. Dimensions: 8″ x 10″ x 5″ (20.3cm x 25.6cm x 13cm). Removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Secured to the chassis using 4 galvanized steel bolts.
Limit Switches:
Rotary type, oilite bronze frictionless cams, grooved and guided in a punched galvanized steel plate. They are fixed on a 5/8″ x 10-3/4″ (1.59cm x 26.88cm) threaded steel shaft that rotates on high speed ball bearings with greasers. At predetermined positions, the cams actuate the micro switches that cut off the power to the motor control in the opening and closing direction. Maximum force exerted on the switch: 4 ounces (113.4g). Contact gap: .02″ (0.5mm). Advance: .25″ (6.35mm). Quick connect terminals of .25″ (6.35mm).
Reduction:
This ultra-sturdy drive unit uses a V-belt (5L), a 2″ (5cm) pulley and a 9″ (22.8cm) pulley, both type B made of cast aluminum, balanced to ensure smooth primary reduction; two steel gears, a 41B12 and a 41B36, with an RC41 roller chain mounted on a 1″ (2.5cm) cold drawn steel shaft resting on four high speed self-greasing and self-centering carrier bearings for secondary reduction up to the output shaft. All gears are keyed or pinned onto the shafts. Door speed: About 1 foot (30cm) per second.
Chassis:
Built on a sturdy hot-rolled steel frame made of solid 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x 3.1mm) steel angles reinforced with steel sheets and firmly bolted together.
Trolley:
Constructed from cold-rolled steel angles of 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x 3.1mm), assembled using 3/8″ (9.5mm) cold drawn steel bars. The aluminum cast trolley is driven by a continuous No. 41 chain sliding between two double rails with roller chains for frictionless operation. A roller spreader supports the trolley in the center and prevents chain rubbing.
Quick Release Safety Arm:
1″ x 3/8″ (2.5cm x 9.3mm) cold drawn steel bar bent at a right angle, adjustable according to the available vertical clearance, with a spring-loaded hook, attached to the door’s aluminum frame. This arm quickly triggers the trolley (without tools) to allow manual operation of the door in the event of a power failure.
Manual Overload Relay:
Protects against current overloads and voltage drops. Manually resettable.
25 VA Step-down Transformer:
Primary 120V, 240V AC to Secondary 24V AC, Class II.
Primary 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V, 600V AC to Secondary 24V AC, Class II.
