Motor Control:
High power reversing contactor STRUTHERS-DUNN or equivalent. Two sets of triple-pole contactors on common armature, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure, flapper armature with triangular suspension, DPDT auxiliary contacts on each armature, 24V. A.C. coils, resistivity 120V. A.C. 15 amp., 240V. A.C. 10 amp., 550V. A.C. 5 amp. Motor 1 C.V. maximum. Terminals .250″ (.625cm) quick connect, durability 10 million cycles.
Automatic and adjustable friction clutch:
4″ (10cm) diameter aluminium disk, attached to the rotary shaft, covered on one side with a 4″ x 1/8″ (10cm x .31cm) piece of non-flammable fibrous material for clutch lining, compressed by means of a powerful compression spring and a knurled nut threaded on an 8″ (20cm) pulley with V-belt. Securely held by a 3/16″ (4.8mm) pin. The clutch system can easily be adjusted to the size and weight of the door. The friction clutch protects the door and the operator in case of obstruction.
Electrical control box:
Factory pre-connected, profiled box in 14 gauge hot rolled steel, measuring 8″ x 10″ x 4-1/2″ (20cm x 25cm x 11.25cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Mounted on the chassis by means of 4 galvanized steel bolts.
Tolerance contactors:
Screw type with two grooved bronze “oilite” cams, guided by a profiled galvanized steel plate. The cams are mounted on a 5/8″ x 10-3/4″ (2.05cm x 26.88cm) threaded shaft of cold rolled steel N/F, rotating on lubricated ball bearings. The cams, when pivoting, activate two micro-contactors that cut off the motor control current in both ascending and descending directions. Control force on tolerance contactors 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum, contact gap .020″ (.05cm), pre-travel .250″ (.625cm), end .250″ (.625cm) quick connect.
Reduction:
This ultra-solid drive unit uses a V-belt (5L) and two cast aluminum alloy pulleys, one of 2″ (5cm) and one of 8″ (20cm) type B, offset to ensure smooth operation, in primary reduction. Five 41B12 steel gears and a 41B36 with an RC41 roller chain, mounted on a 1″ cold rolled steel shaft, rotating on four high-speed self-lubricating and self-aligning 1″ (2.5cm) bearings ensure secondary reduction to the terminal shaft. All gears and pulleys are pinned or keyed to the transmission. Approx. door operating speed 1.0 foot/second (.3m/second).
Chassis:
This solid assembly consists of 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) steel angles reinforced with steel plates, all welded for extra strength.
Carrier:
Consists of hot rolled steel angles 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x .31cm), mounted with hot rolled steel rods. The cast aluminum alloy carriage, fully controlled by a No. 41 back-and-forth roller chain for smooth and frictionless operation, slides between these two solid steel angled rails. Additionally, a roller spacer bar supports the carriage in the center and prevents the chain from rubbing.
Safety lever:
Hot rolled steel bar 1″ x 3/8″ (2.5cm x .93cm), bent at 90o, adjustable according to the free height, with a spring hook attached to an aluminum support on the door. This lever quickly releases the operator from the door, without tools, to allow manual operation in case of a power outage.
