EHJ Jackshaft type electric operator has been developed primarily as an operating mechanism for commercial-industrial door equipped with head shaft. Naturally doors of either sectional overhead, vertical lift, hy-lift or rolling steel construction are ideally suited for operation by this unit. Many othertypes of doors can be equipped with this operator, providing the door has a shaft as the basic driving element.
Three button control:
Momentary contact type for up, down and stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved up or down from that position. Operator can be wired for constant pressure down when specified. Control circuit 24V. A.C. for user’s protection.
Adjustable automatic friction clutch:
To protect door and operator in case of obstruction.
Reduction:
Rugged power unit of this operator utilizes a large size V belt (5L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction, roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Pulleys and sprockets are mounted on 1″ (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft rotating on high speed, precision, self-aligning pillow block bearings for efficient long lasting, hard working, high traffic operation. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft. (.3m) per second.
Chain hoist:
Equipped with a disconnect device which allows a person to disengage the operator from the door and operate the chain hoist from the floor by hand in the event of power failure without having to remove the drive roller chain. Limit switches will not go out of adjustment when hoist is used.
Solenoid brake:
To prevent door from coasting and secure locking of door in closed position.
Limit switches:
Screw type friction free oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches, for both up and down automatic stopping of door position, easily adjustable without tools.
Reversing contactor:
Heavy duty type STRUTHERS-DUNN or equal.
Safety interlock:
Electrical interlock switch automatically cuts power off on operator when chain hoist is in operation.
Universal mounting:
Right or left side.
Manual overload relay:
For overload and under voltage protection. (Can be reset manually).
Motor:
1/3 H.P. (.33hp), 1/2 H.P. (.5hp), or 3/4 H.P. (.75hp), or 1 H.P., 115V. or 230V., 1 phase 208V., 440V. or 550V., 3 phase. (1 H.P. not recommended in single phase motors).
Sideroom required:
20″ (50cm) minimum.
Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammer tone enamel.
Three-button command post:
Momentary contact type, open, close, stop fully protected for normal use, 600V. AC maximum. Screw type terminals. 24V AC control circuit for user protection.
Automatic and adjustable friction clutch:
4″ (10cm) diameter aluminium disc, attached to the rotating shaft, covered on one side with a 4″ x 1/8″ (10cm x .31cm) piece of non-flammable fibrous material for clutch lining, compressed using a powerful compression spring and a serrated nut threaded on an 8″ (20cm) pulley with V belt. Firmly held by a 3/16″ (4.8mm) pin. The clutch system can easily be adjusted according to the size and weight of the door. The friction clutch protects the door and the operator in case of obstruction.
Motor control:
STRUTHERS-DUNN or equivalent high power reversing contactor. Two sets of three-pole contactors on a common armature, mechanically interlocked to prevent their simultaneous closure, flapper armature with triangular suspension, DPDT auxiliary contacts on each armature, 24V AC coils, resistivity 120V AC 15 amp, 240V AC 10 amp, 550V AC 5 amp. 1 CV maximum motor. .250″ (.625cm) quick connection terminals, durability 10 million cycles.
Reduction:
This ultra-strong drive unit uses a V belt (5L) and two cast aluminium alloy pulleys, one 2″ (5cm) and one 8″ (20cm) type B, offset to ensure smooth operation, in primary reduction. Five 41B12 steel gears and a 41B36 with RC41 and RC40 roller chains, mounted on a 1″ (2.5cm) cold rolled steel shaft, rotating on six self-greasing and self-correcting high speed 1″ (2.5cm) bearing supports provide secondary reduction. All gears are pinned or keyed to the transmission. Approx. door operating speed 1.0 foot/second (.3m/second).
Chassis:
This sturdy assembly consists of 2″ x 2″ x 1/8″ (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) steel angles reinforced with steel plates, all welded for added strength.
Tolerance contactors:
Screw type with oilite bronze grooved cams, guided by a profiled galvanized steel plate. The cams are mounted on a threaded shaft of 5/8″ x 10-3/4″ (2.05cm x 26.88cm) cold rolled steel N/F, rotating on lubricated ball bearings. The cams, when pivoting, activate two micro-switches that cut the power of the motor control in both upward and downward directions. Control force on tolerance contactors 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum, contact gap .020″ (.05cm), pre-travel .250″ (.625cm), end .250″ (.625cm) quick connection.
Manual overload relay:
Protects the operator against overload or insufficient voltage. Can be manually reset.
Electric control box:
Pre-connected in factory, profiled hot rolled steel box of 14 gauge, measuring 8″ x 10″ x 4-1/2″ (20cm x 25cm x 11.25cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Mounted on the chassis using 4 galvanized steel bolts.
Reduction transformer:
120V. AC primary to 24V. AC secondary
240V. AC primary to 24V. AC secondary
208V, 460V, 600V. AC primary to 24V. AC secondary
Chain hoist:
Paired with a floor circuit breaker that, when pulled, will disengage the solenoidal electric brake and engage the chain hoist for manual operation in case of power failure, without having to disengage the main drive chain. The assembly consists of an aluminium groove wheel, lever arm, a connector, a pull cable of 1/8″ (.31cm) diameter, a machined chain of 7/16″ (11.1mm) diameter, a wall stop and a release arm.
High efficiency solenoid brake:
Consists of a 4″ (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy disc, keyed on the motor shaft, brake segments with 360o external compression spring mechanism. The braking disc stops the door when the solenoid contactor is released. Mounted on heavy gauge steel plates, protected by a 14 gauge steel housing. The solenoid brake mechanism is self-adjusting type.
Solidarity action safety mechanism:
When the chain hoist is in operation, a toggle switch automatically cuts the power to the operator. This electrical safety switch will protect the door and the device if the control button was accidentally activated when the power is restored.
Motor:
Designed for continuous output (capacitor start on single-phase models) 1/3 HP (.33HP), 1/2 HP (.5HP) or 3/4 HP (.75HP) or 1 HP, 115V. or 230V. single phase, 208V., 440V., 550V. three phase. Permanently lubricated bearings 1725 RPM, rigid type 56 frame, shaft diameter 5/8″ (2.05cm). 1 HP not recommended for single-phase motors. Other voltages available on request.
