GENERAL INFORMATION

For overhead-type doors with standard lift, high lift or vertical lift hardware, also for rolling service doors and grilles. Many other types of doors can be equipped with this operator, providing the door has a shaft as the basic driving element.

Waterproof/dustproof design to be used in areas where atmosphere contains dust, oil, water or liquid vapours. Recommended for car-wash buildings.

SUGGESTED ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATIONS

Electric door operators shall be C.S.A. approved, pre-wired control cabinet Doorlec Model LJHW with EEMAC 12 and 4 classification, dust-tight waterproof.

H.P.      VOLTS      PHASE.


Operators are to be equipped with two-step speed reduction (V belt primary reduction - roller chain and sprockets secondary reduction), adjustable safety-clutch and rotary-type limit-switches readily adjustable in both directions.

Motor to be removable without altering adjustment of limit-switches. Operator to be protected against overload and under-voltage and to have capacitor starting motor, if single-phase is specified. Operator to be equipped with solenoid-operated brake with external compressing 360o brake shoes.

Reversing contactors to be "O" type heavy-duty industrial and have mechanical and electrical interlock. A floor-lever disconnect device shall be provided for mechanical and electrical disengagement, to allow for manual operation in the event of power failure.

All electrical internal wiring shall be colour-coded.

Control circuit to be 24V. A.C. Class II.
Control station shall be C.S.A. approved.
EEMAC 4 three-button station (open, close, stop).



SPECIFICATIONS


Electrical Control Cabinet:
Factory pre-wired, made of sheet metal; construction of suitable rigidity designed to meet EEMAC and C.S.A. classification type 12 and 4. Size: 8" x 10" x 5" (20cm x 25cm x 13cm) with removable cover for easy servicing and maintenance. Mounted on unit chassis with four zinc plated steel bolts.

Motor Control:
Heavy duty reversing contactor, two sets of three pole contacts on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure. Clapper-type armature with three point suspension, auxiliary contacts, DPDT on each armature. Holding coils 24V. A.C. Contacts rating: resistive: 15 amps @ 120V. A.C., 10 amps @ 240V. A.C., 5 amps @ 600 V. A.C.; inductive: 2 H.P. (1493W) max. Terminals .25" (.63cm) quick connect. Mechanical life: over 10 million cycles.

Limit Switches:
Rotary type, friction free oilite bronze cams, grooved and lock guided in a spring loaded formed galvanised steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8" x 10-3/4" (1.56 x 26.88cm) C.R. threaded N.F. steel shaft rotating on lubricated high speed ball bearings. Cams on their preset travel activate the micro switches to cut power off motor control in both open and close directions. Operating force on limit switches: 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum. Contact separation: .02" (0.05cm). Termination: .25" (.63cm) quick connect.

Manual Overload Relay:
Protects operator from over-current and under voltage. Manual reset.

Reduction:
This operator utilises one (4L) V belt, one 1-1/2" (3.75cm) and one 7" (17.5cm) type A cast-iron and die-cast aluminium alloy pulleys balanced for smooth operation for primary reduction. Two steel sprockets, 41B9 and 41B23, with RC41 roller chain (all sprockets pinned or keyed on 5/8" (1.56cm) and 1" (2.5cm) C.R. shaft) rotating on four 5/8" (1.56cm) and two 1" (2.5cm) precision lubricated, high speed flanged bearings for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft (.3m) per second.

25 V.A. Step-Down Transformer:

120V., 240V. A.C. primary to 24V. A.C. secondary, Class II.
208V., 230V., 416V., 460V., 600V. A.C. primary to 24V. A.C. secondary, Class II.

Unit Chassis:
Formed steel frame assembly is made of 11 ga. C.R. steel, reinforced with steel braces and welded together for greater strength. Size: 10-1/2" wide x 20" long x 7-1/2" high (26.25cm x 50cm x 18.75cm).

Safety Mechanical Interlock:
When wall-operated disconnect lever arm is in manual position, the secondary drive-through coupling mechanism is free permitting door and operator to be independent of each other. Safety mechanical interlock will protect operator and door when power is restored and push-button is pressed accidentally. Limit-switches will not go out of adjustment when door is used manually.

Adjustable Friction Clutch:
4" (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to rotating shaft to one side of which a 4" (10cm) D. x 1/8" (.31cm) non-flammable fibre clutch material is applied. One 7" (17.5cm) H.D. V belt pulley is compressed by means of a heavy compression spring and nylon insert threaded nut, securely locked with 3/16" (4.88mm) cotterpin. Friction clutch system can be adjusted, as required, depending on door size and weight. Clutch will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.
Emergency Chain Hoist:
Combined with a wall-operated disconnect which, when pulled, will disconnect the secondary drive and engage the chain hoist for manual operation in the event of power failure, without having to remove the main drive chain. Assembly consists of one grooved aluminium pocket wheel, lever arm, one coupling, 1/8" (.31cm) D. pull cable, 7/16" (11.1mm) D. bright polish chain, wall chain keeper and disconnect arm.

Heavy-Duty Solenoid Brake:
Made from one 4" (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy disc mounted on keyed motor shaft. Brake-lined shoes with 360o exterior compressing force, through spring-loaded mechanism. Brake disc stops motor when electro-magnetic solenoid is released. Mounted on heavy-duty steel plates protected in 14 ga. steel enclosure. Brake mechanism is self-adjusting type.

Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close and stop. Fully guarded weatherproof 250V. A.C. maximum. Screw type terminals.

Motor:
Rated for continuous duty (capacitor start on single phase models) 1/3 H.P. (249W), 1/2 H.P. (373W), 3/4 H.P. (560W), 115V. or 230V. single phase; 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V. or 550V. three phase, 1725 RPM, ball bearings permanently lubricated. Frame rigid type 56, shaft 5/8" (1.56cm) diameter. Other voltages available on request.

Unit is factory pre-wired, colour coded and tagged.
Wiring diagrams are enclosed with each operator.
Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.
