GENERAL INFORMATION

The model SGO is engineered to power heavy-duty, high-frequency commercial and industrial sliding gates with cantilever, overhead or roller V track application, which will easily handle the majority of common installations. It is enclosed in a heavy steel base with 500 watt thermostatically-controlled heater and weather-resistant lockable cover, removable for easy service and maintenance. Will accept any optional equipment for fully automatic operation" (See catalogue # E113).

Three-Button Control:
Momentary-contact type for open, close, stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and gate moved in either direction from that position. Close button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit: 24V. A.C. for user's protection.

Adjustable Automatic-Friction Clutch:
To protect gate and operator in case of obstruction.

Reduction:
Rugged power unit of this operator utilizes double V belt (4L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction, roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Gate operating speed: 1,0 ft (.3m) per second approximately.

Selenoid Brake:
To secure locking of gate in closed position.

Limit Switches:
Rotary-type, friction-free oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches, for automatic stopping of gate in open and closed positions, easily adjustable without tools.

Reversing Contactor:
Heavy-duty type.

Universal Mounting:
Right or left side.

Manual-Overload Relay:
For overcurrent and under-voltage protection (manual reset).

Motor:
1/3 H.P. (249W), 1/2 H.P. (373W), 3/4 H.P. (560W), or 1 H.P. (746W). 120V. or 240V. single phase, 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V. or 600V. three phase.
1 H.P. (746W) not recommended in single-phase motors.

Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray-painted in blue hammertone enamel.



SPECIFICATIONS


Electrical Control Cabinet:
Factory pre-wired, made of 14ga. H.R. steel, pre-formed enclosure size 8" x 10" x 5" (20cm x 25cm x 12.5cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Mounted on unit chassis with four zinc-plated steel bolts.

Motor Control:
Heavy-duty reversing contactor, two sets of three-pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure. Clapper type armature with three-point suspension. Auxiliary contacts SPDT or DPDT (as required) on each armature, coils 24V. A.C. Load contact amps: resistive: 15 amps @ 120V. A.C., 10 amps @ 240V. A.C., 5 amps @ 600V. A.C.; inductive: 2 H.P. (1492W) max. terminals: .250" (.625cm) quick connect. Mechanical life: over 10 million cycles.

Limit Switches:
Rotary-type, friction-free oilite bronze cams, grooved and lock-guided in a spring-loaded, formed galvanized steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8" x 10-3/4" (1.56cm x 26.88cm) C.R. steel shaft with N.F. threads which rotate in lubricated high-speed ball bearings. Cams on their preset travel, activate the micro switches to cut power of motor control in both open and close directions. Operating force on limit-switches 4oz. (113.4g) maximum. Contact separation: .020" (.05cm). Terminations: .250" (.625cm) quick connect.

Manual-Overload Relay:
Protects operator from overcurrent and under-voltage. Manual reset.

Reduction:
SGO operator utilizes two 4L V-belts, two 1-1/2" (3.75cm) type A cast iron pulley and two 7" (17.5cm) die cast aluminium alloy pulleys balanced for smooth operation as primary reduction. Two 41B9 and two 41B23 steel sprockets with RC41 roller-chain (all sprockets pinned or keyed on 5/8" (1.56cm) and 1" (2.5cm) C.R. shafts) rotating in four 5/8" (4.56cm) and two 1" (2.5cm) precision-lubricated high-speed flange bearings for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Gate operating speed: 1.0 ft (.3m) per second.

Drive Unit:
Formed steel frame assembly is made of 11 ga. C.R. steel reinforced with steel braces and welded together for greater strength. Size: 10-1/2 " wide x 20" long c 17-1/2" high (26.3cm x 50.0cm x 44.5cm).

Safety Mechanical Interlock:
When disconnect lever-arm is in manual position, the secondary drive-through coupling mechanism is free, permitting gate and operator to be independent from each other. This safety mechanical interlock will protect operator and gate when power is restored and push-button is pressed accidentally. Limit-switches will not go out of adjustment when gate is used manually.

25v. A. Step-Down Transformer:
120V., 240V. A.C. primary to 24V. A.C. secondary. 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V., 600V. A.C. primary to 24V. A.C. secondary.

Adjustable Automatic-Friction Clutch:
4" (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to rotating shaft to one side of which a 4" (10cm) D. x 1/8" (.31cm) disc of non-flammable fiber-clutch material is applied. Two 7" (17.5cm) H.D. V-belts pulleys are compressed by means of a heavy-compression spring and nylon-insert-threaded nut. Friction-clutch system can be adjusted, as required, depending on gate size and weight. Clutch will protect gate and operator in case of obstruction.

Heavy Duty Solenoid Brake:
Made of one 4" (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy drum mounted on keyed motor shaft. Lined brake shoes with 360o exterior compressing force. Through-spring loaded mechanism. Brake drum stops door when electromagnetic solenoid is de-energized. Mounted on heavy-duty steel plates, protected in 14 ga. Steel enclosure. Brake mechanism is of the self-adjusting type.

Three Button Control:
Momentary-contact type for open, close and stop. Fully-guarded standard duty, 250V. A.C. maximum. Screw-type terminals.

Motor:
Rated for continuous duty (capacitor starting on single-phase models). 1/3 H.P. (249W), 1/2 H.P. (373W), 3/4 H.P. (560W), 1 H.P. (746W), 120V. or 240V. single-phase, 208V., 230V., 416V., 460V. or 600V. three-phase. 1725 RPM, ball-bearings permanently lubricated. Frame : rigid type 56. Shaft: 5/8" (1.56cm) diameter. Other voltages available on request.

Unit factory pre-wired, colour-coded and tagged.
Wiring diagrams, installation instructions are enclosed with each operator.
Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.

This locking mechanism is of unique design. Upon closing of gate, the locking-bolt, mounted on the leading edge of gate, enters the lock-housing which is stationary-mounted on the gate post, causing automatic snap-lock action. When the electric operator is energized a solenoid actuated plunger simultaneously releases the locking bolt and permits the gate to be opened. A key lock is provided to manually release locking mechanism in the event of power failure. The Doorlec gate lock is shipped as shown above, however, mounting brackets must be fabricated to suit post dimension.
