GENERAL INFORMATION

SD electric door operator is suitable for any single sliding industrial or fire door up to 400 sq. ft in area. It has a quick disconnect arm, spring loaded and can be disengaged from floor in the event of power failure. Fusible link is provided when used with sliding fire door.

Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close, stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved in either direction from that position. Close button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit 24V AC for users protection.

Adjustable Automatic Friction Clutch:
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.

Limit Switches:
With oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches for automatic stopping of door in open and closed positions (easily adjustable without tools).

Reversing Contactor:
Heavy duty type.

Reduction System:
The power unit of this operator utilises a large size V belt (5L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction, roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft (mounted on 1" (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft) rotating in high speed, self-lubricating, self-aligning pillow block bearings, for efficient long lasting operation. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft (.3m) per second.

Dual Trolley:
Cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriage, slides in dual heavy steel angle tracks, with full No.41 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and quiet operation. In addition, a roller spreader is provided to support trolley and prevent chain from rubbing.

Quick Release Door Arm:
Quickly disengages operator from door at floor level (without tools), for manual operation in the event of power failure.

Motor:
1/3 HP (248.6W), 1/2 HP (373W), 3/4 HP (559.5W), 1 HP (746W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase. 1 HP (746W) not recommended on single phase motors.

Manual Overload Relay:
For overcurrent and under voltage protection; can be reset manually.

Electro-Mechanical Instant Reverse Or Stop:
This built-in door load sensing device is optional equipment (at extra cost). If closing door meets an obstruction, door will instantly reverse and automatically stop at fully open position or, when specified, can be wired to stop door only. This system eliminates the use of air hose, air switch, retractable cord, etc.

Solenoid Brake:
To prevent door from coasting and to hold it in any position.

Headroom Required:
8" (20cm) minimum above door track.

Backroom:
47" (137.5cm) plus door width.

Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammertone enamel.



SPECIFICATIONS


Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close, stop. Fully guarded, standard duty 600V AC maximum. Screw type terminals. Control circuit 24V AC for users protection.

Motor Control:
Heavy duty reversing contactor, two sets of three pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure, clapper-type armature with three point suspension, auxiliary contacts SPDT or DPDT (as required) on each armature, coils 24V AC. Load contact amps, resistive @ 120V AC 15 amps, @ 240V AC 10 amps, @ 600 V AC 5 amps. Terminals .250" (.625cm) quick connect; mechanical life 10 million cycles.

Adjustable Automatic Friction Clutch:
4" (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to rotating shaft covered one side of which a 4" x 1/8" (10cm x .31cm) non-flammable clutch fibre material, compressed against 8" (20cm) V belt pulley, by means of heavy compression spring and castellated threaded nut, securely locked with 3/16" (4.8mm) cotter pin. Friction clutch system can be adjusted as easily as required depending on door size and weight. Friction clutch will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.

Electrical Control Cabinet:
Factory pre-wired, made from 14 ga. H.R. steel, EEMAC I enclosure, size 8" x 10" x 4-1/2" (20cm x 25cm x 11.25cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance, mounted on unit chassis with four zinc plated steel bolts.

Limit Switches:
Rotary type, friction free oilite bronze cams grooved and lock guided in a formed galvanised steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8" d. (2.05cm) x 10-3/4" I. (26.875cm) C.R. steel shaft with N.F. threads which rotates in lubricated high speed ballbearings. Cams on their preset travel activate micro switches to cut power of motor control in both open and close directions of door. Operating force on limit switches 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum, contact separation .020" (.05cm) pre-travel .250" (.625cm). Terminations .250" (.625cm) quick connect.

Reduction:
This extra rugged power unit drive utilises one (5L) V belt, one 2" (5cm) and one 8" (20cm) type B die cast aluminium alloy pulleys, balanced for smooth operation, for primary reduction, five 41B12 and one 41B36 steel sprockets with RC41 roller chain, mounted on 1" (2.5cm) diameter C.R. steel shaft, rotating on four 1" (2.5cm) self-lubricating, self-aligning, high speed pillow block bearings, for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. All sprockets and pulleys pinned or keyed to shafting. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft (.3m) per second.

Unit Chassis:
Heavy steel frame assembly is made from 2" x 2" x 1/8" (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles, reinforced with steel plates end welded together for greater strength.

Trolley Assembly:
Made from 2" x 2" x 1/8" (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles mounted together with 3/8" (9.5mm) H.R. steel rods. Cast aluminium alloy, chain driven carriage, slides between these dual angle tracks with full No.41 push and pull roller chain for smooth and friction-free operation. In addition, a roller spreader is provided to support trolley at centre and prevent chain from rubbing.

Quick Release Door Arm:
Made from 11 ga. C.R. steel housing, adjustable horizontally and vertically for easy installation. A 5/8" (2.05cm) C.R. steel fork engages trolley carriage by means of a spring loaded mechanism. Can be disengaged from floor to release door from operator in the event of a power failure. When used for sliding fire doors, a fusible link system is incorporated to release door from operator in the event of fire permitting door to close automatically by its own gravity.

35VA step-down transformer:
  • 120V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 240V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V, 600V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.

Rated for continuous duty (capacitor starting on single phase models) 1/3 HP (248.6W), 1/2 HP (373W), 3/4 H.P. (559.5W) or 1 H.P. (746W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase, 1725 RPM, ballbearings permanently lubricated, frame rigid type 56C, shaft 5/8" (2.05cm) diameter. 1 HP (746W) not recommended for single phase.

Heavy Duty Solenoid Brake:
Consists of one 4" (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy drum mounted on keyed motor shaft, lined brake shoes with 360o exterior compressing force through spring loaded mechanism. Brake drum stops door when electromagnetic solenoid is deenergized. Mounted on heavy duty steel plate protected in 14 ga. steel enclosure. Solenoid brake mechanism is on the self-adjusting type.

Unit is factory pre-wired, colour coded and tagged.
Wiring diagrams are enclosed with each operator.
Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.
