GENERAL INFORMATION

The GT Model industrial type heavy duty worm gear trolley operator is designed to be used for rapid high frequency operation or on large standard lift overhead doors where no sideroom is available.

Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for up, down, stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved up or down from that position. Down button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit 24V AC for users protection.

Adjustable Automatic Friction Clutch:
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction (optional at extra cost).

Limit Switches:
Rotary type with oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches for automatic stopping of door in up and down positions (easily adjustable without tools).

Reversing Contactor:
Heavy duty type.

Reduction:
Worm gear reducer, single stage, running in an oil bath, 40:1 ratio, C flange design, alloy cast iron housing; door speed 8" (20cm) per second approx.

Dual Trolley:
cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriage, slides in dual heavy steel angle tracks, with full No. 40 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and quiet operation. In addition a roller spreader is provided to support trolley and prevent chain from rubbing.

Quick Release Door Arm:
Quickly disengages operator from door at floor level (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.

Motor:
3/4 HP (559.5W), 1 HP (746W), 1-1/2 HP (1119W), 2 HP (1492W) 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase. 2 Hp (1492W) not recommended on single phase motors.

Manual Overload Relay:
For overcurrent and under voltage protection (can be reset manually).

Headroom Required:
2-1/2" (6.25cm) minimum from door's highest arc of travel.

Backroom:
5'0" (152cm) plus door height.

Finish:
Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammertone enamel.



SPECIFICATIONS


Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close, stop. Fully guarded standard duty 600V AC maximum. Screw type terminals. Control circuit 24V AC for users protection.

Motor Control:
heavy duty reversing contactor, two sets of three pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure, clapper-type armature with three point suspension, auxiliary contacts SPDT or DPDT (as required) on each armature, coils 24V AC. Load contact amps resistive @ 120V AC 15 amps, @ 240V AC 10 amps, @ 600 V AC 5 amps. Terminals .250" (.625cm) quick connect; mechanical life 10 million cycles.

Electrical Control Cabinet:
Factory pre-wired, made from 14 ga. H.P. steel, pre-formed EEMAC I enclosure size 8" x 16" x 5" (20cm x 41cm x 13cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance, mounted on unit chassis with four zinc plated steel bolts.

Limit Switches:
Rotary type, friction free oilite bronze cams grooved and lock guided in a formed galvanised steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8" d. (2.05cm) x 10-3/4" I. (26.88cm) C.R. steel shaft with N.F. threads which rotates in lubricated high speed ballbearings. Cams on their preset travel activate micro switches to cut power of motor control in both open and close directions of door. Operating force on limit switches 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum, contact separation .020" (.05cm) pre-travel .250" (.625cm). Terminations .250" (.625cm) quick connect.

Reduction:
Worm gear reducer, single stage, running in an oil bath with 40:1 ratio. C flange design alloy cast iron housing. Hardened and ground steel worm and alloy bronze gear for greater wear life. High speed taper roller bearings, double lip spring loaded seals to keep lubricant in and dirt out. Alloy steel shafting hardened and ground for greater strength. Input RPM1750, maximum 2 HP (1492W), output torque 1380in/lbs., overhung load 1100 lbs., output shaft: 1" d, speed 44 RPM, door speed 8" (20cm) per second approx.

Unit Chassis:
Heavy steel channel frame assembly reinforced with steel gusset plates, bolted together for greater strength.

Trolley Assembly:
Made from 2" x 2" x 1/8" (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles mounted together with 3/8" (9.5mm) H.R. steel rods. Cast aluminium alloy, chain driven carriage, slides between these dual angle tracks with full No. 40 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and friction free operation. In additional roller spreader is provided to support trolley at centre and prevent chain from rubbing.

Quick Release Door Lifting Arm:
1" x 3/8" (2.5cm x .95cm) H.R. steel bar bent 900 adjustable to suit headroom with spring loaded hook attached to aluminium door bracket. This arm quickly disengages operator trolley from door at floor level (without tools) for manual operation in the event of power failure.

Adjustable Friction Clutch:
4" (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to output reducer shaft covered one side with 4" x 1/8" (10cm x .31cm) non-flammable clutch fibre material, compressed with a 50B23 sprocket by means of heavy compression spring and lockable nut. Holding force up to 200 lbs. Friction clutch system can be adjusted as easily as required depending on door size and weight. Friction clutch will protect door and operator in case of obstruction. Limit switches will not go out of adjustment when friction clutch is actuated. (Optional at extra cost).

35VA step-down transformer:
  • 120V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 240V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V, 600V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.

Rated for continuous duty (capacitor starting on single phase models) 3/4 H.P. (559.5W), 1 H.P. (746W), 1-1/2 H.P. (1119W) or 2 H.P. (1492W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase, 1725 RPM, ballbearings permanently lubricated, frame rigid type 56C, shaft 5/8" (2.05cm) or 7/8" (2.22cm) diameter. 2 H.P. (1492W) not recommended for single phase.

Unit is factory pre-wired, colour coded and tagged.
Wiring diagrams are enclosed with each operator.
Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.
